2、ouqiIslandTostudythelifehistoryprocessesandmorphologicaltraitsofSargassumhornerifromtheSargassumseaweedbedofGouqiIsland,thisarticlefirstconductedtheinvestigationofthegrowthandreproductionduringanannualcycleofSargassumhorneri,16relatedmorphologicaltraitparametersincludingindividu

3、allength,blade,vesicleandreceptaclewereanalyzed.ExperimentalresultsshowedthatgrowthofSargassumhornericanbedividedinto4phaseswithintheyearaccordingtotheoccurrenceofdifferentbiologicalstructuresinitslifehistory:(1)seedlingperiodduringJulytoAugust,duringwhichplantsconsistofstalk,br

4、anchandbladebriefly,plantsgrowwithanaveragerateof1.52mm·d-1;(2)adultperiodduringAugusttoAprilofnextyear,allbiologicalstructureswereconsummatedandsuccessivelyrecordedtheoccurrenceofvesicle,secondarybranchandreceptacleinSeptember,NovemberandAprilofnextyearrespectively,plantsgrowwi

5、thanaveragerateof2.1mm·d-1;(3)reproductionperiodduringApriltoMay,theoccurrenceofreceptaclesindicatethearrivalofreproductionperiod,whiletheconcentrateddispersionofsporesrepresentsthearrivalof―climax‖ofreproductionperiod,plantsgrowwithanaveragerateof3.80mm·d-1;(4)senescenceanddege

6、nerationperiodduringMaytoJune,themajorityofplantsbegintoageingwithdetachmentofbiologicalstructures,whiletheaveragegrowthrateofplantsreachs0.99mm·d-1duetothesupplementofimmatureindividual.10parametersincludinglength,individualbiomassandprimarybranchlengthshowedasignificantseasona

7、lvariation(p<0.05).Thiswarm-temperatespeciesexhibitedaphonologicalbehaviorintermediatebetweentropicalandcold-temperatespeciesofSargassum.Analysisofwithin-andbetween-individualstabilityof10traitsindicatedtheloweststabilityofprimarybranchlength(Ed=95),whichbelongstothebestparamete
