5、whereasatortisconsideredtobeaprivatematterbetweenthepartiesdirectlyinvolved.Ifthepersonwhosecarwasdamagedbythechimneydeclinestopresschargesincivilcourt,thehomeownerwillbefreeofanyresponsibility.However,ifthechimneywasintentionallypushed,thestatecouldpr
6、osecuteevenifthepartyharmedrefusestobringcharges.Theseconddistinctioninvolvesthepersonswhoactuallyprosecutethecase.Aspeciallydesignatedstateprosecutororfederalofficialdirectstheproceedingswhencrimesareinvolved.However,intortactionstheindividualagainstw
7、homthewronghasbeencommittedgenerallyhiresanattorneytoprocesstheclaim.Third,althoughonewhocommitsacrimemayberequiredtoprovidesomeformofmonetaryrestitutiontosocietyortothevictim,additionalpunishmentsarealsoreadilyavailable.Theseincludefines,probation,jai
