2、scentraldatacollection.Thispaperdiscusseshowdatafromthesetypesofdevicescanbeintegratedintohospitalsystemsusingwirelesssensornetworkingtechnology.Byintegratingdevicesyouareprotectinginvestmentandopeningupthepossibilityofnetworkingwithsimilardevices.InthiscontextwepresenthowZigbeemeetso

3、urrequirementsforbandwidth,power,securityandmobility.Wehaveexaminedthedatathroughputsforvariousmedicaldevices,therequirementofdatafrequency,securityofpatientdataandthelogisticsofmovingpatientswhileconnectedtodevices.Thepaperdescribesanewtestedarchitecturethatallowsthisdatatobeseamless

4、lyintegratedintoaUserInterfaceorHealthcareInformationSystem(HIS).Thedesignsupportsthedynamicadditionofnewmedicaldevicestothesystemthatwerepreviouslyunsupportedbythesystem.Toachievethis,thehardwaredesigniskeptgenericandthesoftwareinterfacefordifferenttypesofmedicaldevicesiswelldefined.

5、ThesedevicescanalsosharethewirelessresourceswithothertypesofsensorsbeingdevelopedinconjunctiononthisprojectsuchaswirelessECG(Electrocardiogram)andPulse-Oximetrysensors.MANYdevicesthatexisttodaybythebedsideinthehospitalward,intensivecareunitorotherclinicalsettinghavedataoutputfeatureso

6、verserialportsandothertypesofinterfacessuchasUSB.Thesedevicesareusuallyconsideredasignificantinvestmentandareusuallypurchasedinanadhocfashionasrequiredwhenfinancebecomesavailable.Theconsequenceofthisisthatdevicesareoftenfromdifferentmanufacturersthatdon’tsupportanystandardprotocol.Thi
