2、nglishProverbsAbstract:Language,asamirroroftherealworld,cangiveusavividreflectionofsocialcustomsandvalues.Proverb,theessenceoflanguage,isactuallyapureconcentrationoftheentirecontentofculture.Withalonghistoryandtheirancientorigins,Englishproverbsstemfromtheaccumulationofexperience,whichha
3、vebeenpassedonfromgenerationtogeneration.Thus,itismorerepresentativeandpersuasivetomakearesearchonsexismfromproverbs.ThethesisaimsatspecializinginsexismreflectedintheEnglishproverbs,probingintothephenomenonthroughaninductivestudyoftheproverbsappliedinEnglishfromtwomajoraspectsandsevenpoi
4、ntsintotal.Besides,thethesishasalsoinvestigatedintothecausesofsexismfromthreeaspects:historicalinfluence,physicalinfluenceandpsychologicalinfluence,revealingthesexbiasagainstwomeninvocabularysoastoenhancepeople’sawarenessaboutsexismandprovidereferencevalueinthisfieldofstudy.KeyWords:Engl
