3、its,boththeprocessandeconomic-politicalregimeitishelpingbringaboutthreatenprogressiveends,andshouldberecognizedassuchandfoughtateverylevel.Admittedlythisisaformidabletask,astheeconomicandpoliticalpowerofitsbeneficiaries,anditsmomentum,aregreatandcontesti
4、ngitseemsanalmostutopianundertaking.Butglobalizationhasitsvulnerabilities,andattackingitintellectually,atthelocallevelofplantabandonmentsandmoves,aswellasatthenationalpoliticallevelcanhelpbuildunderstandingandsupportforalargeroppositionalmovement.Globali
5、zationasIdeologyGlobalizationisjustoneofanarrayofconceptsandarguingpointsthathavebeenmobilizedtoadvancethecorporateagenda.Othershavebeenderegulationandgettinggovernmentoffourbacks,balancingthebudget,cuttingbackentitlements(non-corporate),andfreetrade.Lik
6、efreetrade,globalizationhasanauraofvirtue.Justas"freedom"mustbegood,soglobalizationhintsatinternationalismandsolidaritybetweencountries,asopposedtonationalismandprotectionism,whichhavenegativeconnotations.Thepossibilitythatcross-bordertradeandinvestmentm
7、ightbeeconomicallydamagingtotheweakerparty,orthattheymighterodedemocraticcontrolsinboththestrongerandweakercountries,isexcludedfromconsiderationbymainstreameconomistsandpundits.Itisalsounthinkableinthemainstreamthatthecontestbetweenfreetradeandglobalizat
