2、rsispresented.Itisshownthattherearetwokindsofunstablephenomenainthiskindofmotor:mid-frequencyoscillationandhigh-frequencyinstability.Nonlinearbifurcationtheoryisusedtoillustratetherelationshipbetweenlocalinstabilityandmid-frequencyoscillatorymotion.Anovelanalysisispresentedtoanalyzethelossofsynchr

3、onismphenomenon,whichisidentifiedashigh-frequencyinstability.Theconceptsofseparatricesandattractorsinphase-spaceareusedtoderiveaquantitytoevaluatethehigh-frequencyinstability.Byusingthisquantityonecaneasilyestimatethestabilityforhighsupplyfrequencies.Furthermore,astabilizationmethodispresented.Age

6、tors;inaddition,theyarebrushlessmachinesandthereforerequirelessmaintenance.Allofthesepropertieshavemadesteppermotorsaveryattractiveselectioninmanypositionandspeedcontrolsystems,suchasincomputerharddiskdriversandprinters,XY-tables,robotmanipulators,etc.Althoughsteppermotorshavemanysalientproperties
