3、isthemostinfluentialinlanguagedefinition.“Languageisasystemofarbitraryvocalsymbolsusedforhumancommunication”(Wardhaugh,citedinWangQiang,2000).Viewsonlanguagedirectlydecideonwhattolearnandhowtolearn.Languagelearningisacomplexandpainstakingtaskwhichinvolvesallkindsoflearning.“Lan
4、guagelearningreferstoconsciousknowledgeofasecondlanguage,knowingtherules,beingawareofthemandbeingabletotalkaboutthemanditusuallytakesplaceinthelanguageclassroom(Krashen,1981).Soitisnoteasytolearnaforeignlanguage.Theteachershouldnotonlymakehisstudentsunderstandthelanguage,namely
5、thepronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,etc,heshouldalsostimulatethestudent’sinterestinlearningEnglishandhelpdeveloptheircompetencesothattheycanusethelanguagecorrectly,appropriatelyandexpressivelyinrealsituations.SoKrashen(1981)suggeststhataneffectivelanguageteacherissomeonewhocanp
6、rovideinputandhelpmakeitcomprehensibleandinterestinginalowanxietysituation.Inrecentyears,theperceptionsoftheteacher’srolehavechangedconsiderablyandtherequirementforteacherisalsohigherthanbefore.Apartfromprocessingacomprehensiveknowledgeofthelanguageandsometeachingmethodsandtech
7、niques,alanguageteachershouldalsoknowhowtomakehisclassartisticandinteresting.Teachingisascienceaswellasanart.Theteachingartisthattheteacherteacheshisclassinawaythatthestudentscanfeelthebeautyandgetgreatsatisfactionfromwhattheyhavelearnedandthestudents’interestisgreatlystimulate
