2、almetafunction.ThespecificanalysisisbasedontheThemestructureandthedevicesofcohesionthroughoutthisadvertisement.ThefeaturesofadvertisementsarediscussedbrieflycombinedwiththeanalysisoftheTextualorganizationofthisadvertisement.I.IntroductionInHalliayanFunctionalGramma
3、r,thereare3categoriesofmetafunctions:theexperientialmetafunction,theinterpersonalmetafunctionandthetextualmetafunction.Andthe3categoriesaboveareusedasthebasisforexploringhowmeaningsarecreatedandunderstoodbecausetheyallowthematchingofparticulartypesoffunction/meanin
4、gswithparticulartypesofwording.(Thompson:1996,28)Thompson(1996/2000)interpretsthetextualfunctionsasfollows:inusinglanguage,weorganiseourmessageinwayswhichindicatehowtheyfitinwiththeothermessagearoundthemandwiththewidecontextinwhichwearetalkingorwriting.Sowhenwelook
5、atlanguagefromthepointofviewofthetextualmetafunction,wearetryingtoseehowspeakersconstructtheirmessagesinaway,whichmakesthemfitsmoothlyintotheunfoldinglanguageevent.Thetextualmetafunctionincludes3subsystems:themestructure,informationstructureandcohesion.Myfocuswillb
6、eontheThemestructureandcohesioninthefollowinganalysis.Advertisementscanbeseenwidelyintheworldaroundus.Theuseofthelanguageinadvertisementsisveryimportantsinceitispositivelyconnectedwiththesalesvolumeoftheproducts.Thekeyfeaturestoasuccessfuladvertisementliesinmakingi
