4、tserviceprovider，CLEARNet，andwehaverecentlyconcludedastrategicalliancewithVodafonetoresellmobility.WehaveourownfibreopticcableandmicrowaveradiobackbonerunningfromWhangarei，some170kmsnorthofAuckland,toInvercargillinthefarsouth.Wehaveafullydigitalswitchandtransmissionsystem,withswitche

5、sbasedinAuckland,WellingtonandChristchurch.Sincemid1999CLEARhasbeenawholly-ownedsubsidiaryofBritishTelecom.WhyCLEARwantedtomoveBy1996CLEARhadabout800staffin14locationsaroundthecountry，butthemajoritywerebasedinAucklandwhereweoccupied11,530m2ofspaceon17floorsofthreeseparatebuildings.Th

6、erewasverylittlescopeforfurthergrowth.About0.5kmseparatingthebuildings，andemployeesspentaconsiderableamountoftimemovingbetweenbuildingsandbetweenfloors.Theleasesonallsixfloorsinthetwosmallerbuildings，totalling3,810m2,wereduetoterminatebetweenAugustandDecember1998.Thisspacehadtoberepl
