3、isespeciallyprosperousincommerce,tourism,dining,financeandrealestate.Fortravelers,GuangzhoushowsmuchattractionthroughitsfamoussightssuchastheFiveRamStatueinYuexiuPark,PearlRiverandWhiteCloudMountain.GuangzhouHistory.fromgoogleearthItisbelievedthatthefirstcitybuiltatthesiteofGuangzhouwasPanyu
4、(蕃禺,latersimplifedto番禺;thelocalspronouncedthisinCantoneseasPoonYu)foundedin214BC.Thecityhasbeencontinuouslyoccupiedsincethattime.PanyuwasexpandedwhenitbecamethecapitaloftheNanyueKingdom(南越)in206BC.Recentarchaeologicalfoundingofherpalacesuggeststhatthecitymighthavetradedfrequentlywithforeigne
5、rsbythesearoutes.The25foreigntradecontinuedthrougheveryfollowingdynastyandthecityremainsamajorinternationaltradingporttothisday.TheHanDynastyannexedNanyuein111BC,andPanyubecameaprovincialcapitalandremainssountilthisday.In226AD,thecitybecametheseatoftheGuangPrefecture(廣州;Guangzhou).Therefore,
6、'Guangzhou'wasthenameoftheprefecture,notofthecity.However,peoplegrewaccustomedtocallingthecityGuangzhou,insteadofPanyu.AlthoughtheChinesenameofGuangzhoureplacedPanyuasthenameofthewalledcity,PanyuwasstillthenameoftheareasurroundingthewalledcityuntiltheendofQingera.ArabsandPersianssackedGuangz
7、hou(knowntothemasSin-Kalan)inAD758,2accordingtoalocalGuangzhougovernmentreportonOctober30,758,whichcorrespondedtothedayofGuisi(癸巳)oftheninthlunarmonthinthefirstyearoftheQianyuaneraofEmperorSuzongoftheTangDynasty.[1][2][3]DuringtheNorthernSongDynast
