2、ssutureaxisbyapriormachineandthenpassesunderafloatingknifewhichcutstheapricotsubstantiallyonitssutureplaneandthereafterapitkickerremovesthepitfromtheapricot.Mostapricotsareofafreepitnatureanditisonlynecessarytocutthefruitinhalfandthepitwillordinarilyfallout.However,the

3、reisalwaysacertainpercentageofapricotswhereinthepitisnotfreeandtendstosticktooneorbothhalvesofthecutapricot.Apricotcuttingmachineshavingafloatingnon-rotatingknifehaveheretoforebeenknownsuchasthatdescribedinPatent2,735,466whereintheapricotisrolledunderafloatingknife,the

4、knifeseveringtheapricotandthereafterahookortailformingapartoftheknifedislodgesthefreepitastheapricotpassesunderneaththehook.Suchastructureworkswellwithfreepitapricotsbuttendstojam-upwhenanapricotwithastuckpitisencountered.Onhand-fedmachines,thisoccurrenceiseasilyrectif

5、iedbytheoperatorbutonmodernautomaticmachinery,manyapricotsaredamagedbeforesuchajamwillclearitself.Itisaprimaryobjectofthepresentinventiontoprovideanapricotcuttingmachinewhereinthepitsaredislodgedinapositivemanner.Anotherobjectofthisinventionistoprovideanapricotcuttingm

6、achinehavinganoscillatingpitkickerwhichpositivelydislodgesstuckpits.Astillfurtherobjectofthisinven'ionistoprovideanapricotcuttingmachinewhereinashroudcoveringtheknifehasapluralityofresilientfingers,impartingapositiverollingmotiontotheapricotthusfacilitatingcutting.Asti
