2、eanalysis(Fairclough,1989;Foatics(Dor,2003).Allofthemexaminetheplexstructuresandstrategiesemployedbyreportersandrevealthesocialrealityembeddedinneicneicfunctiongrammar(ChenZhongzhu,1995;TianFen,2011).Especially,ergenceofcognitivelinguistics,scholarsbeeincreasinglyinterestedinco
3、nceptualmetaphorsineconomicneetaphorsineconomicnebodiedinthem.Hoetaphorsineconomicney,Chinaisputunderthespotlightoftheoreandmoreedia’sattention,butfeetaphorsinChina-relatedeconomicneedia,letalonecloselyexaminetheattitudesembeddedinthem.Therefore,inthispaper,undertheparadigmsofC
4、onceptualMetaphorTheoryandattitudesysteminAppraisalTheory,theevaluativefunctionofconceptualmetaphorsinChina-relatedeconomicneicphenomenabyresortingtoconceptualmetaphors,andsimultaneouslyachievetheirmunicativepurposeandshoajorgoalofthestudyistoinvestigatetheevaluativefunctionofc
5、onceptualmetaphorsinChina-relatedeconomicneicnethefamousAmericanmagazineTIME,identifies,classifiesandfiguresoutthemetaphoricalexpressionsconcernedicphenomenainlineetaphorsasdifferentattitudinalresourcesarelabeled,countedandanalyzedinaccordanceinAppraisalTheory.Correspondingly,t
