4、elementsorpropertiesofallhumanlanguage...theessenceofhumanlanguage”(qtd.inCook,2000:2). AccordingtoChomsky,whateverlanguageisbeingspoken,UGisthecommonpossessionofhumanbeings.Chomskyinfersthathumanbeingsareinnatelyendowedwithuniversallanguage.Thisexplainswh
5、yallchildrenlearnlanguageatatimewhentheyhavedifficultygraspingotherkindsofknowledge,andwhyitispossibleforintellectuallyimpairedchildrentoacquirethelanguagearoundthem. 3.TheRoleofUniversalGrammarinSecondLanguageAcquisition Chomsky’stheoryofUGwasofferedasan
