4、condlanguageteachingfield.Scaffoldingservesasatemporaryandadjustableassistancetolearnerswhichmakeispossibleforlearnerstocompleterelevanttasksandachievetheirstudyobjectives.Suchobjectivesareusuallybeyondlearners’abilityandthusimpossibletoachievewithoutthescaffoldingsupport.  2.1TheDefinitionof

5、ScaffoldingTheory  Insecondlanguageacquisitionstudy,scaffoldingisregardedasausefultooltopromotesuccessfulcommunication.AccordingtoMcKay(2006,p.17),teachersemployedscaffoldingasateachingmethodto“givechildrencognitivesupportandlanguagesupport,usuallybytalkingthroughataskwithchildrenandthushelpi

6、ngthemlearn”.ThetheoreticalfoundationofscaffoldingderivesfromVygotsky’szoneofproximaldevelopment(ZPD).AccordingtoVygotsky(1978,p.86),ZPDis“thedistancebetweentheactualdevelopmentallevelasdeterminedbyindependentproblemsolvingandthelevelofpotentialdevelopmentasdeterminedthroughproblemsolvingunde
