2、clinical,basicscience,bioengineeringand/orpublichealthproblemDISCIPLINES:AllbasicandclinicaldisciplinesinmedicineSITEofWORK:FellowshipandworkmustbeatmedicalinstitutionintheSoutheasternUnitedStatesasdefinedbyCOSEHCSCOPEOFWORK:AllprojectsmustbedoneinaccordancewithNIHguidelinesforres

3、earchinvolvinganimalsorhumanresearchREQUIREMENTS:CompletedeitheraMD,PhD,DrPH,orDOattimeofawardCITIZENSHIP:Mustbeacitizenornon-citizennationaloftheUnitedStatesormusthavebeenlawfullyadmittedforpermanentresidence(i.e.,inpossessionofacurrentlyvalidAlienRegistrationReceiptCardI-551,ors

4、omeotherlegalverificationofsuchstatus).Non-citizennationalsaregenerallypersonsborninoutlyingpossessionsoftheUnitedStates(e.g.,AmericanSamoaandSwainsIsland).Individualsontemporaryorstudentvisasarenoteligible.ANNUALAWARD:$3O,OOOincludingfringebenefits;$5000maybeusedforprojectsupport

5、.65%ofthefundingwillbegivenatthetimeoftheaward,withtheremaindergivenatthecompletionofthefellowship,afterreceiptofasatisfactoryfinalreport.AtleastfortyhoursperweekduringtheFellowshipmustbededicatedtotheresearchprogram.Withinthe40hoursperweektrainingperiod,researchtraineeswhoarealso

6、trainingascliniciansmustdevotetheirtimetotheproposedresearchworkandmustconfineclinicaldutiestoonlythosethatareanintegralpartoftheresearchtrainingexperience.SELECTIONCRITERIAAWARDDURATION:ONEyear.Applicantmayapplyforoneadditionalyearoffundingatthemidpointofinitialgrant(by12/30)PEER

7、REVIEW:Prospectiveapplicantmustauthorapplication;evaluationwillincludeapplicant’squalificationsandresearchabilityandpreviousaccomplishments.PreferencewillbegiventoapplicantstrainedwithinthesoutheasternUS.RESTRICTIONS:Applicantcanhavenomorethan3-yearspost-doctoralexperienceattimeof
