3、onofdigitalfilteralgorithmsbasedonfieldprogrammablegatearrays(FPGAs).TheadvantagesoftheFPGAapproachtodigitalfilterimplementationincludehighersamplingratesthanareavailablefromtraditionalDSPchips,lowercoststhananASICformoderatevolumeapplications,andmoref
4、lexibilitythanthealternateapproaches.SincemanycurrentFPGAarchitecturesarein-systemprogrammable,theconfigurationofthedevicemaybechangedtoimplementdifferentfunctionalityifrequired.OurexamplesillustratethattheFPGAapproachisbothflexibleandprovidesperforman
5、cecomparableorsuperiortotraditionalapproaches.1.INTRODUCTIONThemostcommonapproachestotheimplementationofdigitalfilteringalgorithmsaregeneralpurposedigitalsignalprocessingchipsforaudioapplications,orspecialpurposedigitalfilteringchipsandapplication-spec
6、ificintegratedcircuits(ASICs)forhigherrates[9,14].Thispaperdescribesanapproachtotheimplementationofdigitalfilteralgorithmsonfieldprogrammablegatearrays(FPGAs).RecentadvancesinFPGAtechnologyhaveenabledthesedevicestobeappliedtoavarietyofapplicationstradi
