3、underthecentralfilamentofhyaluronicacid.Manystudieshavecontrolofresidentchondrocytes.Sandyetal.(6)subsequentlyinvestigatedchangestakingplaceinproteoglycanshowedthatproteoglycansreleasedfromculturesofrabbitmonomerstructureduringcartilagecatabolismusuallyarticularc

4、artilageduringthecatabolicprocesshadlargehy-undertheassumptionthathyaluronicacidisarela-tivelyinertmetaboliccomponentofthecomplex.Indrodynamicsizesbutwereunabletobindtohyaluronicacid.thispaperwepresentorganculturedatasupportingaTheyproposedthatthemechanismofrelea

5、seinvolvedanewhypothesisthatthecatabolismofproteoglycanshydrolyticcleavageabovethehyaluronicacidbindingregionandhyaluronicacidarecoordinatelyregulatedbyoftheproteoglycancoreprotein.Laterstudiesbyothergroupschondrocytes.Thedataindicatesthat:1)newlysyn-havebeencons

6、istentwiththishypothesis(7-9),althoughthethesizedhyaluronateandproteoglycanmaintainaissuehasnotbeendefinitelysettled.Analternatecatabolicnearlyconstantratio,almostidenticaltothatexistinghypothesisisbasedonthefindingthatpartiallydegradedlinkforthetotalchemicalamou

7、ntsofthesetwocomponentsproteinsaccumulateincartilagematrixwithincreasingageincartilagetissue;2)thesetwocomponentsarecatab-(10)andstatesthatproteolyticcleavageofthelinkproteinolizedwithvirtuallyidenticalkinetics;and3)thisinactivatesitsabilitytostabilizetheproteogl
