2、posefulandrequiresactiveinvolvementonbehalfofthereaders,asduringreadingatext,theyhavedifferentaimstoachieve(Koda,2005).AsGambrell,Block,andPressley(2002)namescomprehensionasthemostimportantpartofreading,helpingstudentstocopewithcomplicatedtextstheyfaceisoneofthecrucialpartsofteachingEnglishto
3、EFLlearners.Amongdifferentstrategiesthatareappliedtoimprovereadingcomprehension,mnemonics,anditsmorerecenttype,mindmapsareprominent.Mindmapsthataregraphicandvisualpresentationofmaterials,wasfirstintroducedbyBuzaninthelate19thcentury.ThepurposeofthisstudywastoinvestigatetheattitudesofEFLlearne
4、rstowardsusingmindmappingtechniqueinreadingcomprehension.Theparticipantsofthisstudywere31maleandfemalestudentsofbusinessmanagementatHakimanInstituteofHigherEducation,Bojnourd,Iran.Itwastheirfirstsemesterandtheyparticipatedinapre-Englishcourseasacompulsoryone.Aftereightsessionsoftreatment,when
5、theywerefamiliarwithmindmappingstrategyandapplieditforthereadingpassagesoftheirtextbook,theirattitudestowardusingmindmapsforreadingcomprehensionwasinvestigatedthroughLikert-typequestionnaireandoralinterview.Thefindingsrevealedthepositiveattitudesoftheparticipantstowardstheuseofmindmapsinreadi
