2、iencedonlinestudentparticipants.Onlinefacultyperformanceconventionswerecollectedfrom20institutionsofhigherlearninglocatedintheUnitedStates.Thecollectivepracticesyieldedthreeprimarydomainsrelatedtoadministrativefacultyperformanceexpectationsinonlineinstruction:Communication,Presence/Enga

3、gement,andTimeliness/Responsiveness.UndergraduateparticipantsrepresentingacrosssectionofcollegesanduniversitiesintheUnitedStatesweresurveyedtodeterminetheirexpectationsforonlinefacultyascomparedtoscaleditemsderivedfromthelistsofparticipatinginstitutions.Theresultsofthisinvestigationoffe

4、rpractitionersinsightintohowadministrativeinstructionalguidelinesrelatetotheuserdemandsofaninformedgroupofundergraduateonlinestudents.IntroductionThecontinuedexpansionofonlinelearningthroughouttheworldhaspromptedtheeducationprofessiontoidentifyeffectiveinstructionalpracticescommontotheo

5、nlinelearningenvironment.Thevastmajorityofsuchprotocolshavebeenadministrativelydefined,ultimatelybecomingthebasisforwidelyappliedevaluationsofinstructionalperformanceintheWebbasedlearningenvironment.Atthesametime,ubiquitousdeliverycreatinganexpandingarrayofhigherlearningoptionsfortoday'

6、sonlinelearners(coupledwiththerisingcostsassociatedwithpostsecondaryenrollment)foretellsafutureinwhichstudentswillbecomeevermorediscerningconsumersinsearchoflearningoptionsthataremoreconnectedtotheirownindividualneedsandinterests(Allen&Seaman,2013).Perceptionsofqualityaresaidtobetheresu
