1、TheExon–FlorioAmendment50U.S.C.app2170isalawthatwasenactedbytheUnitedStatesCongressin1988toreviewforeigninvestmentwithintheUnitedStates.TheamendmentwaspassedintolawundertheOmnibusTradeandCompetitivenessActof1988andamendedSection721ofDefenseProductionActof1950.Allforeigninvestmentsthatmightaf

2、fectnationalsecuritymaybereviewedandifdeemedtoposeathreattosecurity,thePresidentoftheUnitedStates,mayblocktheinvestment.Accordingtotheamendment,thepresidentmayblocktheinvestmentwhen"thereiscredibleevidencethatleadsthePresidenttobelievethattheforeigninterestexercisingcontrolmighttakeactiontha

3、tthreatenstoimpairthenationalsecurity."PresidentReagandelegatedthereviewprocesstotheCommitteeonForeignInvestmentintheUnitedStates.TheamendmentwassponsoredbySenatorJ.JamesExonandRepresentativeJamesJ.Florio.TheamendmentwasproposedoverconcernsofforeignacquisitionsbyJapanesebusinesses.§ 2170.Aut
