4、Researchersfromdiversebackgroundsareconvergingontheviewthathumanevolutionhasbeenshapedbygene–cultureinteractions.Theoreticalbiologistshaveusedpopulationgeneticmodel
5、stodemonstratethatculturalprocessescanhaveaprofoundeffectonhumanevolution,andanthropologistsareinvestigatingculturalpracticesthatmodifycurrentselection.Thesefindingsaresupportedbyrecentanalysesofhumangeneticvariation,whichrevealthathundredsofgeneshavebeensubjecttorecentpositiveselection,ofteninrespo
6、nsetohumanactivities.Here,wecollatethesedata,highlightingtheconsiderablepotentialforcross-disciplinaryexchangetoprovidenovelinsightsintohowculturehasshapedthehumangenome.Accountsofhumanevolutionfrequentlyassumethatadultlactosetolerance12,13,15,16.Estimatesforthenumbertheselectiveeventsthatshapeduswe
