3、untofdisorder,orentropy,intheuniverse,alwaysincreaseswithtime.However,theLawrefersonlytothetotalamountofdisorder.Theorderinonebodycanincrease,providedthattheamountofdisorderinitssurroundingsincreasesbyagreateramount.Thisiswhathappensinalivingbeing.OnecandefineLifetobeanorderedsystemthatcansustain

4、itselfagainstthetendencytodisorder,andcanreproduceitself.Thatis,itcanmakesimilar,butindependent,orderedsystems.Todothesethings,thesystemmustconvertenergyinsomeorderedform,likefood,sunlight,orelectricpower,intodisorderedenergy,intheformofheat.Inthisway,thesystemcansatisfytherequirementthatthetotal
