3、9.TheworkshopwasintendedtocontinueapreviousmeetingentitledOpenSystemsandMeasurementinRelativisticQuantumTheory,thetalksofwhicharealsopublishedintheLectureNotesinPhysicsSeries(Vol.526).Thedifferentattitudesandconceptsusedtoapproachthedecoherenceandquantummeasurementpro

4、blemledtolivelydiscussionsduringthework-shopandarereflectedinthediversityofthecontributions.Inthefirstarticlethemeasurementproblemisintroducedandthevariouslevelsofcompatibilitywithspecialrelativityarecriticallyreviewed.Inothercontributionstherˆolesofnon-localityandenta

5、nglementinquantummeasurementandstatevectorpreparationarediscussedfromapragmaticquantum-opticalandquantum-informationperspective.Inafurtherarticletheviewpointoftheconsistenthistoriesapproachispresentedandanewcriterionisproposedwhichrefinesthenotionofconsistency.Also,th

6、ephenomenonofdecoherenceisexaminedfromanopensystem’spointofviewandonthebasisofsuperselectionrulesemployinggrouptheoreticandalgebraicmethods.Thenotionsofhardandsoftsuperselectionrulesareaddressed,aswellasthedistinctionbetweenrealandapparentlossofquantumcoherence.Furth
