3、n,anditwillbeimplicitlyusedinthissection;theutilityofthisapproachhasbeenverifiedcountlesstimes,andallotherinterpretationsarenecessarilyconstructedsoastogivethesamequantitativepredictionsasthisinalmosteverycase.QualitativeoverviewThequantumstateofasystemisamathematicalobjectthatfullydescribestheq
4、uantumsystem.Onetypicallyimaginessomeexperimentalapparatusandprocedurewhich"prepares"thisquantumstate;themathematicalobjectthenreflectsthesetupoftheapparatus.Oncethequantumstatehasbeenprepared,someaspectofitismeasured(forexample,itspositionorenergy).Iftheexperimentisrepeated,soastomeasurethesame
5、aspectofthesamequantumstatepreparedinthesameway,theresultofthemeasurementwilloftenbedifferent.Theexpectedresultofthemeasurementisingeneraldescribedbyaprobabilitydistributionthatspecifiesthelikelihoodsthatthevariouspossibleresultswillbeobtained.(Thisdistributioncanbeeitherdiscreteorcontinuous,dep
