3、anidealform."Insimplerlanguage,itmeanstoaimforperfection.Onthesurface,itsoundsnice,butallthisignoresthebasichumantrait,theonesharedacrosscultures,languages,andraces:imperfection.Tobehumanistobeerrant.Thus,thedreamsofidealistsoftengetdashedandprojectstheyattemptoftenend
4、eitherinfailureoratleast"lessthantheycouldhavebeen." Ontheotherhand,realismmeans"theinclinationtowardsliteraltruthandpragmatism"(ibid).Italsomeanstoacceptlifethewayitis,andfavourthepracticalmethodofdealingwithit.Thistooseemstobeagoodtraitontheoutside,butithassomeflaws.
5、Toonlyaimforaveragecutsshortthepotentialofhumanity.Justbecausehumanityisn'tperfectdoesnotmeanitcannotreachexcellenteverynowandthen. Therearesignificantcontrastingplussidestoboth.Tobeanidealististoreachforthestars.However,idealistsoftenbecomelostintheirdreams,andforgett
6、herealworldaroundthem;andasaresultcanacquireanout-of-touchauraaboutthem.Realistsontheotherhandaremoregroundedinreality(hencethename),andasaresultareoftenbetterpreparedtodealwithit.However,astheyfocustoomuchonreality,theyoftenaimlowerthancanbereached,onlyaimingforwhatca
