3、tP.falciparumstrainshaveemerged.Inlightofthesefactors,avariationonanoldnon-pharmacologictreatmentwasappliedin3cases.ThisreportfocusesontheclinicalpresentationandtreatmentwithultravioletClightof3malariacases.Twopatientswithmalariavivaxandonewithfalciparumdecidednottorecei
4、vethepharmacologicaltreatmentbutinstead,bytheirownchoice,optedtoreceivetheultravioletClight(atawavelengthof254nm)sublingually.Thedisappearanceofthesymptoms,negativethickdropandtheabsenceofparasitesinthepatientsthatreceivedultravioletClightsuggestsfurtherstudieswithapplic

6、mated128deathsfromthediseasein2006.ThepharmacologicaltreatmentplanisuniqueandfreethroughoutPeru,isguaranteedbythestateinallofthehealthclinicsandestablishments,andhasbeenevaluatedaccordingtoefficiencyandefficacycriteria.InuncomplicatedmalariafromPlasmodiumvivax,thetreatme
7、ntlasts7daysandefficacycontrolteststakesplaceonthe14thday.InuncomplicatedmalariafromPlasmodiumfalciparum,notcomplicated,thetreatmentlasts3daysandthecontrolsaretakenondays3,7,and14,afterthebeginningofthetreatment(1)Despitethefactthatthedrugsplayanimportantroleinthecontrol
