3、ntGreece,same-sexintimacywasevensociallyendorsed(Pickett&Brent,2011).Inrecentyears,therehasbeenaglobaltrendtorecognizeandevenlegalizehomosexualpartnershipsandmarriages.In2001,theNetherlandspassedfullandequalrightsforhomosexualmarriages.Laternineothercountriesfoll
4、owedsuit.Additionally,overtwentycountriesallowsomeotherformsofsame-sexrelationships(TheDailyBeast,2012).Homosexuality,aprevalentyetmarginalsubculture,isaconcernofsociology.Thefollowingistoanalyzehomosexualityusingsociologicalideassuchassocialconstructionism,norms
5、,ethnocentrism,culturalrelativismandchangeofculture.Sociologistsbelievehomosexualityisnotpurelybiologicaldetermined,butalsosociallyconstructed.Familyeducation,schoolingandmassmediaallshapeconventionalgenderrolesincludingheterosexualorientation.Kidsliveinafamilywi
6、thafatherandamother,listeningtofairytalesthatregaleofprincesandprincesseslivehappilyforever;textbooksclassifyhomosexualityintoamarginalcategory;moviesshowaherosavingabeautyandfinallymarryingher.Gradually,onesocialnorm,heterosexuality,isimplantedinchildren’smindsa
7、ndbecomesataboo.Hence,whenhomosexualculturestrikes,peopletendtoberesistanttoit.Negativesanctionssuchasdiscriminationwillthenbeemployed.Thisishowtheheterosexualnormcontributestohomosexualitybeingrepelledbythemainstream.Meanwhile,heterosexualstendtotakereproduction
8、anecessityinmarriageandlife.Theyseekmentalandphysicalsupportsfromheterosexualrelationships.Thus,homosexuality,an‘unproductiveanduseless’behavior,isirrational.T
