2、alistofsuggestedfactorsthatleadtodeviationswillbegiveninthefollowing.Besides,thethesiswillalsoexaminetherelationsbetweenmetaphorsandtextstylebothinSTandTT,andthedifferencesintermsofthisaspectwillbefoundbetweenSTandTT.Summingup,theresearchquestionsthatthisthesisattemptst
3、oanswerareasfollows:1)AretheconceptualmetaphorsintheSTtranslatedintotheTTwiththesametypeofconceptualmetaphor?Ifnot,whatdeviationshavetakenplace?2)Whatarethefactorsthatleadtothosedeviations?3)DoesthedeviationinfluencethestyleofSTwherethemetaphorlocatesduringthetranslatio
4、nofconceptualmetaphors?Howdoestheinfluencecomeintobeing?Majorfindingsofthisresearcharepresentedasfollows:Amongthetwohundredandsixty-sixconceptualmetaphorsinthenovelWeiCheng,63.16%isconsistedwithstructuralmetaphors,28.95%ofthembelongtoontologicalmetaphors,andtherest7.89%
5、areorientationalmetaphors.Duringthetranslationofthetwohundredandsixty-sixconceptualmetaphors,82%ofwhicharetranslatedwiththesametypeofconceptualmetaphorintheTT,anddeviationshavetakenplaceintherest18%.Thosedeviationscanbedividedintotwotypes,decayinmetaphoricalexpression(1
