3、greatestbenefitthrougheconomicexchange,but,atthesametimealsowanttogaintheupperhandinsovereigncompetition.Therefore,unequalbenefitandexternalitiesstemmingfromeconomicexchangebecomenegotiatingchipsforbothsides.Beijinguseseconomicsasabargainingchipinanattempttowinconces

4、sionfromTaipeionsovereignty(i.e.,peacefulunificationunder“onecountry,twosystems”model);Taipei,however,iswillingtosacrificeeconomicadvantageandinterestsforthesakeofmaintainingsovereignautonomy(security).However,Beijing’sassertiveattitudeandTaiwanbusinesses’pursuitofth

5、eirowneconomicinterestsmakesTaipeianxious.NexttoBeijing,Taipeiseemspassiveandconservative.ThispapertriestoestablishamodelofgeneralanalysisoftheeconomicrelationsbetweenTaiwanandChina,analyzingcomplicatedeconomicinterests,securityconsiderations,andnegotiatingbehaviorbe

6、tweenTaiwanandChinafromthreedimensions:economics,security,andnegotiation.Fromaneconomicperspective,duetotheongoingeconomicrestructuringprocessinTaiwan,whichisprobablythemostimportantonein20to30years,cross-Straiteconomicexchangewillnotonlyaffectthedistributionofeconom
