2、ghallandconverttheoldgym/cafeteriaintoalibrary.Itwillfeatureriserswithbookshelvesaroundtheperimeter(tomakethehighwindowsmorerelevanttostudents),amini-theaterareaforstudentperformances,twosemi-soundproofclassrooms,waterandsinks,amezzanine,morebookshelves,andasmallartgalleryontheoutside

3、ofthelibrary.Thenewlibrarywillbe,appropriately,averylinguisticplace.Theshelfspaceforbookswilltriple,forexample.Butsinceit'sgoingtobeanMIlibrary,that'sjustthebeginning.BecauseplannersattheTheNewCitySchoolknowwhatapowerfultoolMIcanbeinstudentlearning,theywanttofindwaystoincorporateMIint

4、helibrary.Thelibraryshouldn'tbeagymnasiumoranartroom,butstudentsshouldbeabletousetheirbodily-kinestheticandspatialintelligencestolearninthelibrary.Likewise,theirlogical-mathematical,musical,naturalist,intrapersonal,andinterpersonalintelligencesshouldalsobeaddressedinthisverylinguistic
