1、Part8AcademicMisconductTheUniversityofEastLondoniscommittedtoAcademicIntegrity.Wewilltakefirmactionagainstanystudentwhobreachestheseregulations.Allreferencestothe‘HeadofStudentEngagement’ortothe‘HeadofGovernanceandLegalServices’intheseregulationsshouldbetakenrespectivelytomeanthe‘HeadofSt

2、udentEngagementordesignate’orthe‘HeadofGovernanceandLegalServicesordesignate’.1Context1.1Asalearningcommunity,werecognisethattheprinciplesoftruth,honestyandmutualrespectarecentraltothepursuitofknowledge.Behaviourthatunderminesthoseprinciplesdiminishesus,bothindividuallyandcollectively,and

3、devaluesourwork.WearethereforecommittedtoensuringthateverymemberofourUniversityismadeawareoftheresponsibilitiess/hebearsinmaintainingthehigheststandardsofacademicintegrityandofthestepswetaketoprotectthosestandards.1.2Ourdeterminationthatstudentsshouldknowandunderstandacademicgoodpracticei

4、smatchedbyourresolvethatacademicmalpracticeshouldnotprosper.Accordingly,wehaveadoptedabalancedapproach,providingsupporttoenablestudentstoacquireknowledgeandskillstomaintainacademicintegrityandacomprehensivesetofAcademicMisconductRegulationstoprotectacademicintegrity.2Definition2.1Forthepu

5、rposesoftheseRegulations,academicmisconductisdefinedasanyaction(s)orbehaviourlikelytoconferanunfairadvantageinassessment,whetherbyadvantagingacandidateforassessmentordisadvantaging(deliberatelyorunconsciously)anotherorothers.Examplesofsuchmisconductaregivenbelow:thelistisnotexhaustiveandt

6、heuseofanyformofunfairordishonestpracticeinassessmentnotitemisedbelowcanbeconsideredpotentialmisconduct.AstudentcannotinitiateanactionagainstanotherUniversityofEastLondonManualofGeneralRegulationsSeptember20128-26student,onlyanacademicmemberofstaffwithintheuniversitycaninitiateanaction.Co
