5、rformance.IntroductionSmallandmediumenterprises(SME)playanimportantrole(Yu,2001),thereforetheydominantthemostnumberoffirmsinheworld,bothindevelopanddevelopingcountries(Day,2000;Wijewardena&Tibbits,1999;Sanjaya,1997).TheroleofSMEismoreimportantindeveloping
6、country,especiallyforIndonesia(Swasono,1986).ThedevelopmentofSMEhasbroughtsomepositiveimpactsalthoughtheyhaven’tbeenabletochangeIndonesianeconomicstructureasawhole(Marzuki,1997;Tambunan,1999).However,therearestillsomefindingsaboutSMEbankruptcywhilesomeSME
7、sareverysuccessrunningtheirbusinessinstead.Theinfluencesoffactorsonfirm’ssuccessaredifferentfromonecountrytoanothercountry.Thedifferencesareduetoeconomicscondition,location,andculture(Wijewardena&Tibbits,1999).Someresearcheshavefoundthatfactorsdetermining
