4、dyingmatterateversmallerscalesletsususematterandenergyinwaystoofantastictoimaginejust50yearsago.Today'stechnologyreliesonabasicunderstandingofthestructureandpropertiesofmatter.Schoolchildrenworkonpersonalcomputersbaseduponstate-of-the-artelectronics.Diseasesareimaged,d
5、iagnosed,andtreatedwithoutsurgery.Andpeoplecanspeakclearlytoothersaroundtheworldusingaphonesmallerthanahumanhand.RHICisdesignedtoextendthisfrontier,providingaccesstothemostfundamentalbuildingblocksofnatureknownsofar—quarksandgluons.Bycollidingthenucleiofgoldatomstogeth
