2、stingdronedeliverysystems,andthedevelopmentofsuchsystemsreachedamilestonewhenthefirstcommercialdronedeliveryapprovedbytheFederalAviationAdministrationtookplaceonJuly17,2015.Inthefuture,dronescouldaugment,orinsomesituationsevenreplace,truckfleetsandcouldhaveimportantimplicationsforenergyconsump
3、tion,publicsafety,personalprivacy,airpollution,citynoise,airtrafficmanagement,roadcongestion,urbanplanning,andgoodsandserviceconsumptionpatternsinurbanareas.Tosupportdevelopingissuesinthisdomain,theRANDCorporationlaunchedanexploratorystudythatbringstogetherRAND’sexpertiseinunmannedaerialvehicl
4、e(UAV)operations,transportationresearch,systemsanalysis,andbehavioralanalysisandappliesittothisemergingandunderexploredresearcharea.Thestudyincludesseveralcomplementaryresearcheffortsfocusedondifferentfacetsofthedeliverydronesystemandtheirlikelyimpactonthepublic.Inthisreport,weexplorethecity-s
