2、nthatthepatternofreciprocitystemsfromthepastexchange,perceivedcontractfulfilmentbytheemployershouldsendasignaltotheemployeesregardingemployer’scommitmentandwillingnesstoinvestinandcontinuetheexchangerelationship.Inotherwords,employerfulfilmentofitsunspecifiedpsychological

3、contractobligationsdemonstratesagenerousapproachandhighlightsthevoluntaryinputstheemployeriswillingtocontributetotheexchange.Consequently,perceivedemployerfulfilmentofobligationsconveysasenseoftrustandinterestintheemployee,suggestingalackofconcernregardinganimmediateandex

4、actpayback.Anemployee’sperceptionsregardingtheunderlyingexchangemechanismshouldfollowthesesignalsofgeneralizedreciprocitysuggestedbyemployerbehaviourandfurtherinfluencethecharacteristicsoftheperceivedindebtednessandthesubsequentobligationstheemployeeislikelytoperceiveonhi

5、s/herpart.Anexchangerelationshipunderlinedbythebalancednormofreciprocity,inturn,suggestsclearertransactionsandabusinessapproachtotheexchangeevenwhentheobligationsarenotspecifiedinacontractualagreement.Forexample,iftheemployerdidnotpreviouslyfulfilitsperceivedobligationtog

6、iveextratimeoff,theemployeewouldbecarefultoconsiderhowandwhenworkingovertimewouldberepaidratherthantrustinginlong-termunspecifiedreciprocation.Moreover,researchonpsychologicalcontractbreachindicatesthatemployeeswithahistoryofpsychologicalcontractbreacharemorelikelytoviewt
