2、gjiangprovince.Withalatitudeashighas46,similartoVancouver,Harbin'swinterlastsforaboutfourmonthsayearwithtemperaturesfallingtoaslowas-40C,whichprovidesthecitywithanabundanceofnaturaliceandsnow.AlongwithJapan'sSapporoSnowFestival,Canada'sQuebecCityWinterCarnival,andNorway'sSkiFestival,HarbinFestival,w
3、hichbeganin1985,isoneoftheworld'sfourlargesticeandsnowevents.ItstartsonJan5andlastsforamonth,duringwhichtimeitoverlapswithsomeofChina'smostimportanttraditionalfestivals,includingSpringFestivalandtheLanternFestival.1.SunIslandParkSunIslandParkissaidtobewhereChineseicesculptureoriginated.Anexhibitiono
4、fsculptureshererunsfor60to70daysthankstothecity'sweather.Withthevariedstylesandenormoussizeofitsicesculptures,theSunIslandFestivalisalsoknownastheworld'slargesticeandsnowcarnival.ThesculpturesareinspiredbyvariousculturesincludingthoseofJapanandRussia,whichbordersHeilongjiangprovince.Besidestheicescu
5、lpturestheparkispackedwithotherentertainment,includinganiceslide,snowpuddlejumper,snowmotorcyclesandasnowmaze.ThenationalsnowsculpturecompetitionalsotakesplaceinSunIslandPark,showcasingChina'smostamazingiceandsnowcreations.Visitingtheparkinthedayandatnightoffersdifferentperspectivesonthesculptures,w
