3、ervice.Inexile,hetraveled,taughtandwroteforseveralyears.HearingthattheZhouhadbeendefeatedbytheQin,hefellintodespairandthrewhimselfintotheMilouRiveronthefifthdayofthefifthmonth.AlongwiththeChineseNewYearandMid-AutumnFestival,DragonBoatFestivalisoneofthe
4、biggesttraditionalholidaysinChina.Theoriginofthisholidayisabittroubling--apoetQuYuan屈原(about300BC)killedhimselfbyjumpingintotheriveronthe5thdayofthe5thlunarmonth.Averypatrioticperson,QuYuanattractedthewrathofthekingbystatinghisconcernsaboutthegovenrmen
5、t.Laterwhenhiscountrywasoverrunbyenemysolidiers,theeverloyalpoetkilledhimselfoutofgriefforthepainhiscountrywasfacing.Peopleweresadoverthepatrioticpoet'sdeath.Theytossedriceandmeatintotherivertofeedthefish,whichwouldprotectQu'sbody.DragonboatraceDragonb
6、oatraceDragonboatracesarethemostpopularactivityduringtheDragonBoatfestival,especiallyinSouthernChina.Atypicaldragonboatrangesfrom50-100feetinlength,withabeamofabout5.5feet,accommodatingtwopaddlersseatedsidebyside.Itisbrightlypaintedinred,white,yellowan
