2、nhancedoilrecovery(EOR)bywaterflooding.Varyingexperimentalresultshavebeenreportedintheliterature,frommanypromisingresultstolimitedornoeffectsoflowsalinity.TheapplicationoflowsalinitywaterincombinationwithotherestablishedEORprocesses(e.g.,surfactantfloodingandpolymerflooding)isofgreatinterest.Thecombined
3、processesinvolvedampeningcapillaritytoavoidtrappingofmobilizedoil,reducingresidualoilsaturation(Sor),andalteringfrontalstabilityandsweep.Inthisarticle,weaddressthequestionsoftimingofLSinjectionandtheaddedbenefitofpolymerinjection.Secondary-mode(atinitialwatersaturation)andtertiary-mode(afterseawaterr
4、esidualoilsaturation)lowsalinitywaterfloodingexperimentswereperformedonoutcropBereasandstonecorematerial.Themainresultsaretheoilrecoveryefficienciesofthesetwodifferentfloodingmodes.Theseresultsshowanincreaseinoilrecoveryofabout13%oftheoriginaloilinplace(OOIP)insecondary-modecomparedtotertiary-modelowsali
5、nitywaterflooding.Moreover,theeffectofpolymerinjectionwasfoundtobemorepositivewhenlowsalinitywasinitializedfromthestartofwaterinjection(secondarymode).Inthiscase,thefinalrecoveryfactorincreasedtoabout90%OOIP.Possiblemechanismsforlowsalinityandlowsalinitypolymerinjectionarediscussed.■INTRODUCTIONAnincre
6、aseinpH,forinstance,hasbeenreportedinmanyIncreasedoilrecoverybysubstantiallyloweringtheinjectionarticlesasthereasonfortheLSE.However,numerousbrinesalinityormodifyingthebrinecompositionoftheinjectionexperimentalstudieshaveshownnocorrelationbetweenthewaterhasbeenreportedinnumerousexperimentalstudiesan
7、dLSEandchangesinpH.Thatis,therearereportsofabenefitto14,19,20fieldtrialsforbothtertiary(residualoilcondition)andsecondarylowsalinitywithaslightchangeorevenadecreaseinpH,(initialwatercondition)modesofwat
