3、thismassiveintegratedlivingsystemisstillinitsinfancy.Variousenvironmentalvariables,suchashighsalinity,lowandchangeablenutrientavailabilityanddepth-correlatedgradientsoflight,temperature,nutrientsandpressureshapethediversity,physiologyandecologyofmarinespecies.A
4、soceanspresentanaveragedepthof3800m,deep-seaecosystemsrepresentthemostcommonmarineecologicalniche.Oneofthekeyenvironmentvariablesthatinfluencesthelifeandevolutionofdeep-seaorganismsishighpressure.Thisextremewidespreadconditionrequiresspecificadaptations,thenature
5、ofwhichremainslargelyunknown.Recentadvancesingenomicapproaches,suchasinsequencingtechnologiesandglobalexpressionprofiling,arerapidlyincreasingthedataavailabletounderstandmicrobialevolution,biochemistry,physiologyanddiversity.Thisreviewsummarisestheanalysisofther
6、esultspublishedsofaraboutmicrobialhighpressureadaptationfromagenomicpointofview.Understandinghighpressureadaptationmechanismsisnotjustascientificexercisebuthasimportantbiotechnologicalimplications.Forexample,hydrostaticpressureisarealityforfoodscienceandtechnolo
