2、Science+BusinessMediaB.V.2006AbstractThispaperfocusesontheanalysisandevaluationofresilienceanchoredinaneconomicperspective.Resilience,aswellasmostofthebenefitsprovidedbyecosystems,isnotpricedoncurrentmarkets.However,thisdoesnotmeanthatresilienceisofnovalueforhumans.Onthecontrary,
3、theinterestofusinganeco-nomicperspective,andtherespectivescientificmethodology,willbeputforwardintermsofresiliencerelevanceforecosystemfunctioning,anditsimpactonhumanwelfare.Theeconomicperspectiveisanchoredinananthropocentricanalysisevaluatingresilienceintermsofprovisionofnatural
4、capitalbenefits.Theseinturnareinterpretedasinsuranceagainsttheriskofecosystemmalfunctioningandtheconsequentinterruptionoftheprovisionofgoodsandservicestohumans.Forthisanalysis,wemakeuseofaconceptualframeworkthatidentifiesanddescribesthedifferentvaluecomponentsofresilience.Finally,
