3、termsofsumcapacityinsynchronousCDMAsystems.Theseoptimalcodebooksdependonboththese-quencelengthaswellasthenumberofactivesequences.Thustomaintainoptimalityatyp-icallydifferentcodebookisneededforeverypossiblenumberofactiveusers.Further,allthesequencesneedtobereassignedasthenumberof
4、activeuserschanges.Thispaperde-scribesandanalyzestwopromisingsubclassesofWelchboundequalitysequencesthathavegoodpropertieswhenonlyasubsetofsequencesisactive.Onesubclass,basedonmaximumWelchboundequalitysequencesets,hasequiangularsequencesthuseachuserexperiencesthesameamountofinte
5、rference.Theinterferencepowerdependsonlyonthetotalnumberofac-tiveusers.Anothersubclass,constructedbyconcatenatingmultipleorthonormalbasis,comesclosertotheWelchboundwhennotallsignaturesareactive.Optimalunionsoforthonormalbasisarederived.Performancewhensubsetsofsequencesareactivei
