3、atroomtemperatureofthreepolymericfoams(namelyEPP,PURandPS/PAfoams)havebeenexperimentallyevaluatedinbothstaticandimpactloadingconditions.Theenergyabsorptioncharacteristicshavebeenexaminedboththroughtheenergy-absorptiondiagrammethodandthroughthee$cienc
4、ydiagrammethod.Themeaningofthee$ciencyparameter,alreadyusedintheliterature,hasbeenexplainedinaproper,satisfactoryway.Itisshownthatthemaximumofthee$ciencyidenti"estheconditionforoptimalenergyabsorptionofthefoam,whilethemaximumstressreachesavaluelimite
5、dthroughotherdesignconsiderations.Thee$ciencydiagrammethodisthenusedtoobtainsyntheticdiagramsusefultocharacterizethematerialandtohelpthedesignofenergyabsorbingcomponents.Thesesyntheticselectiondiagramsareobtainedforthethreetestedmaterials.Finally,som
