2、swithinfamilytherapy.Participantsexploretheapplicationofcoursematerialtotheirworksettingortrainingtrack.Thiscourseisnotclinicalinnatureandisnotdesignedtotrainorprepareparticipantstoconductfamilytherapy.Prerequisite:None.Credit:3semesterhours.Purpose:Ithas

3、beensaidthatalltherapyisfamilytherapy.Evenwhenworkingwithindividualswearedealingwiththeinternalizedcommunityofothersthatshapedthemandcontinuetoinfluencetheireverythoughtandfeeling.Thiswillbeasurveycoursedesignedaroundtheconceptoffamilyasasystemthatpowerfu

4、llyinfluences,andisinfluencedby,thebehaviorofindividualswithinthatsystem.Thefundamentalconceptsofgeneralsystemstheorywillbeappliedtotheinteractionalpatternswithinfamiliesandthemajortheoriesoffamilytherapywillbeexplored.Selectedtopics,controversies,themes,

5、andtrendsinthefieldoffamilytherapywillbediscussed.Becauseeachstudentinthisclassisalsoamemberofafamilythathasshapedhisorherassumptionsaboutrealityandrelationships,aswellascareerchoices,itisessentialthatthestudentrecognizeandunderstandtheongoinginfluenceoff

6、amilyoforiginonhisorherthoughts,feelingsandbehavior.Thereforestudentswillberequiredtoexaminetheirownexperiencesintheirfamilyoforiginandtheirtaken-for-grantedassumptionsaboutfamilyasanessentialprerequisitetobeingabletounderstand,andintervenein,thesystemici

7、nteractionsofotherfamilies.Thecoursewillbeacombinationoftheoreticalandclinicalmaterial.Thiscourseisanintroductionandisnotdesignedtopreparethestudenttodofamilytherapy.Thehopeisthatstudentswillbeexcitedenoughbythepowerfulpossibilitiesoffamilytherapythatthey
