3、sandplacenamesinninegenetically,typologicallyandgeographicallydiverselanguages,drawingondatafromfirst-handfieldwork.Thepresentintroductoryarticlelaysoutthereasonswhythedomainofland-scapeisofcentralinteresttothelanguagesciencesandbeyond,anditoutlinessomeofthemajorpa
