3、semanticinterfaceforontology-basedNLPsystemswhichareexpectedtoproduceoutputcompliantwithaspecificdomainontology.OurlexiconontologyitselfisformalizedintheOWLlanguage,thusallowingthelexicatobepublishedtogetherwiththedomainontologies.Wealsodiscussdifferentwayshowthecreationofappropriatel
4、exicacanbesupported.1IntroductionFormanyapplicationsinaspecificdomain,NLPsystemsarerequiredtopro-duceoutputstructurescompliantwithaspecificdomainontology.Insuchcases,NLPsystemsneedto“speakthelanguage”oftheunderlyinginformationsystemwhichstoresthedatainaknowledgebase.Intechnicalterms,t
5、heNLPsystemneedstoproducestructureswhicharecompliantwiththeontologyonthebasisofwhichtheinformationsysteminquestionhasbeenbuilt.Forthispurpose,anyontology-basedNLPsystemrequiresalexiconwhichmapsexpressionsinnaturallanguagetocorrespondingontologystructures.Inthisarticleweareconcernedw
6、iththedesignofarichlexiconmodelwhichallowsfordeclarativelyrepresent-ingthemappingbetweenlanguageandagivendomainontology.Ourviewofontology-basedNLPisthusinlinewiththeoneof“OntologicalSemantics”[1]inthesensethatNLPsystemsareexpectedtoproduceontologicalstructureswhichhaveawell-definedme
7、aningaxiomatizedbyanunderlyinglogicaltheory.Animportantrequirementinourviewisthattheselexicaarenotspecifiedinsomeproprietaryformbutinsuchawaythattheycanbe(i)publishedtogetherwiththedomainontologiesand(ii)reusedacrosssystems.Suchinteroperabilitycanbeachievediflexicaaredescribedusingon
