3、rmdevelopment,theimportanceandvalueofresearchonpresuppositionfrommultipleperspectiveshavebeenrecognizedbymanyscholars.Inlightofdifferenttheoriesanddevelopmentstages,presuppositioncanberoughlydividedintosematicpresuppositionandpragmaticpresupposition.Semanticpresuppositionmeasuresthes

4、entencewithtruthvalue,whilepragmaticpresuppositiontakesexternalfactorsintoconsideration.Pragmaticpresuppositionismoresuitabletobethetheoreticalframeworkofthisresearch.Manyresearchersfocusonstudyingpresuppositioninwrittentext,whichmakesthestudiesonverbalcommunicationrare.Thereforethet

5、hesiswillexplorepresuppositioninverbalcommunicationtentativelyfromtheperspectiveofpragmatics.ThethesisanalyzespragmaticpresuppositioninanAmericansituationcomedyEverybodyLovesRaymondfromtheperspectiveofmutualknowledgeandfelicity.Atthesametime,theauthorofthepresentstudyputsforwardherow
