2、ofGeography,FujianNormalUniversity,Fuzhou350007,China)Abstract:Thetraditionalculturalgeographymainlyinvestigatestheculturesofabigregionandtheresearchesfocusonfivecentralissues:culturallandscapes,culturalecology,culturalintegrationandculturalregionalization.However,withinthecontextsof
3、globalizationandprofoundurbantransformation,thedevelopmentofurbanculturesareinfluencednotonlybyphysicalfactorsbutmoreimportantly,bysocio-culturalelementssuchastheurbandevelopmentstrategyandgovernancemode,theeconomiclocation,thetransportation,thebigevents,theindustrialpattern,urbanspa
4、cereconstruction,theurbanpopulationandtheconceptofconsumption,allofwhichhavebroughtrevolutionarychangestothebackgroundofurbanculture.Underthiscircumstance,newfeaturesappearinthegeographicalstudyofurbanculture.Also,theprocessofglobalizationhasbroughtextraordinarychangestourbanculture:
5、newarchitectureandpopularpublicspacemixedwithexoticelementsarewellingup,globalizedlifestyleswidelyspreadandtraditionalvaluesarechallenged.Therefore,itisurgenttostudytheforthcomingquestionssuchashowtodealwiththedilemmaofforeignculturesandlocaltraditionsforthesakeofthedevelopmentofciti
6、es.Inthewesternworld,globalizationhasbeenaverypopularnarrativeinacademicstudyandculturalgeographyhasbeenattheforefrontofdisciplinesrelatingtheexperiencesandconsequencesforthinkingsocietyandtheglobalcircumstanceatboththeempiricalandtheoreticallevels.Mostoftheresearchandarticleswouldbe
7、calledpost-modernization,basingarguesonsuccessivecritiqueswithtellingrichstoriesofExclusionandInclusionofdifference-sexualities,genders,racings,ethnicitiesandages.However,inChina,thecultureglobalizationhasnotbeenafocusinculturegeographyyetthoughthefunctionofculturecapitalintheurbanco
