6、emictrendistheUCLAresearchgroupofChineselegalhistory.Theirscholarshipasawholeexemplifiesthefeaturesofwhatthisarticlecallsa“newChineselegalhistory”—namely,conjoiningtheempirical(theextensiveuseofjudicialarchivesinChina)withthetheo-retical(drawinguponanddialoguingwithwell-establishedtheories
