4、stof3-dimensionalmechanicalandofhydrauliccomponents–likeexcavators–aredifficulttosimulate.Usually,twodifferentsimulationenvironmentshavetobecoupled.Thisisofteninconvenient,leadstounnecessarynumericalproblemsandhasfragileinterfaces.Inthisarticleitisdemonstratedathandofthemo

5、delofanexcavatorthatModelicaiswellsuitedforthesetypesofsystems.The3-dimensionalcomponentsoftheexcavatoraremodeledwiththenew,freeModelicaMultiBodylibrary.Thisallowsespeciallytouseananalyticsolutionofthekinematicloopatthebucketandtotakethemassesofthehydrauliccylinders,i.e.,t

6、he“forceelements”,directlyintoaccount.Thehydraulicpartismodeledinadetailedway,utilizingpump,valvesandcylindersfromHyLib,ahydraulicslibraryforModelica.Forthecontrolpartageneric“loadsensing”controlsystemisused,modeledbyasetofsimpleequations.Thisapproachgivestherequiredresult
