built-inbootstrapcircuitryrequiringonlyafewexternalcapacitors.Inordertoprovidegoodelectricalandacousticalcharacteristics,thePWMsignalpathfortheoutputstageis
designedasidentical,independenthalf-bridges.Forthisreason,eachhalf-bridgehasseparatebootstrappins
(BST_X)andpower-stagesupplypins(PVDD_X).Thegatedrivevoltages(GVDD_ABandGVDD_CD)are
derivedfromthePVDDvoltage.Specialattentionshouldbepaidtoplacingalldecouplingcapacitorsascloseto
theirassociatedpinsaspossible.Ingeneral,inductancebetweenthepower-supplypinsanddecoupling
capacitorsmustbeavoided.Foraproperlyfunctioningbootstrapcircuit,asmallceramiccapacitormustbeconnectedfromeachbootstrappin
(BST_X)tothepower-stageoutputpin(OUT_X).Whenthepower-stageoutputislow,thebootstrapcapacitoris
chargedthroughaninternaldiodeconnectedbetweenthegate-driveregulatoroutputpin(GVDD_X)andthe
bootstrappin.Whenthepower-stageoutputishigh,thebootstrapcapacitorpotentialisshiftedabovetheoutput
potentialandthusprovidesasuitablevoltagesupplyforthehigh-sidegatedriver.InanapplicationwithPWM
switchingfrequenciesintherangefrom352kHzto384kHz,itisrecommendedtouse33-nFceramiccapacitors,
size0603or0805,forthebootstrapsupply.These33-nFcapacitorsensuresufficientenergystorage,even
duringminimalPWMdutycycles,tokeepthehigh-sidepowerstageFET(LDMOS)fullyturnedonduringthe
remainingpartofthePWMcycle.Specialattentionshouldbepaidtothepower-stagepowersupply;thisincludescomponentselection,PCB
placement,androuting.Asindicated,eachhalf-bridgehasindependentpower-stagesupplypins(PVDD_X).For
optimalelectricalperformance,EMIcompliance,andsystemreliability,itisimportantthateachPVDD_Xpinis

of0x56,andLOWasubaddressof0x54.DEVICEPROTECTIONSYSTEMOvercurrent(OC)ProtectionWithCurrentLimitingThedevicehasindependent,fast-reactingcurrentdetectorsonallhigh-sideandlow-sidepower-stageFETs.The
detectoroutputsarecloselymonitoredaprotectionsystem.Ifthehigh-currentconditionsituationpersists,i.e.,
thepowerstageisbeingoverloaded,aprotectionsystemtriggersalatchingshutdown,resultinginthepower
stagebeingsetinthehigh-impedance(Hi-Z)state.Thedevicereturnstonormaloperationoncethefault
condition(i.e.,ashortcircuitontheoutput)isremoved.Currentlimitingandovercurrentprotectionarenot

usesMCLKortheinternaloscillatorclock(whenMCLKisunstable,outofrange,orabsent)toproducethe
internalclock(DCLK)runningat512timesthePWMswitchingfrequency.TheDAPcanautodetectandsettheinternalclock-controllogictotheappropriatesettingsforallsupportedclock

anticipatedangerousconsequencesoffailures,monitorfailuresandtheirconsequences,lessenthelikelihoodoffailuresthatmightcause
harmandtakeappropriateremedialactions.BuyerwillfullyindemnifyTIanditsrepresentativesagainstanydamagesarisingoutoftheuse
ofanyTIcomponentsinsafety-criticalapplications.Insomecases,TIcomponentsmaybepromotedspecificallytofacilitatesafety-relatedapplications.Withsuchcomponents,TI’sgoalisto
helpenablecustomerstodesignandcreatetheirownend-productsolutionsthatmeetapplicablefunctionalsafetystandardsand
requirements.Nonetheless,suchcomponentsaresubjecttotheseterms.NoTIcomponentsareauthorizedforuseinFDAClassIII(orsimilarlife-criticalmedicalequipment)unlessauthorizedofficersoftheparties
haveexecutedaspecialagreementspecificallygoverningsuchuse.OnlythoseTIcomponentswhichTIhasspecificallydesignatedasmilitarygradeor“enhancedplastic”aredesignedandintendedforusein
military/aerospaceapplicationsorenvironments.BuyeracknowledgesandagreesthatanymilitaryoraerospaceuseofTIcomponents
whichhavenotbeensodesignatedissolelyattheBuyer'srisk,andthatBuyerissolelyresponsibleforcompliancewithalllegaland
regulatoryrequirementsinconnectionwithsuchuse.TIhasspecificallydesignatedcertaincomponentswhichmeetISO/TS16949requirements,mainlyforautomotiveuse.Componentswhich
havenotbeensodesignatedareneitherdesignednorintendedforautomotiveuse;andTIwillnotberesponsibleforanyfailureofsuch
